International Women’s Day Women of Armed and Unarmed Forces Service and Parade.

Officers of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, South Western Division celebrated International Women’s Day with an Inter-Faith Service at our church, then a parade through the streets of Siparia this morning. The theme for the event was, “Embrace Equity.”

The attendees comprised both male and female members of the Police and Fire Services, as well as Saint John’s Ambulance Brigade. Other retired and serving officers as well were in attendance. Fr. Alan Hall officiated and greetings and prayers were offered by officers of the Hindu and Muslim Faiths. The feature speaker was the Retired Senior Superintendent of Police, Mrs. Inez Joseph, who is a Lay Minister at our parish.

After the Service there was a parade which began on La Pastora Street, then through the streets of Siparia, culminating at the Irwin Park Savannah with a mini-concert. The parade route was flanked by children from Saint Brigid’s Girls’ R.C. School, La Divina Pastora Siparia Boys’ R.C. School, Siparia SDA Primary School, and Siparia Union Presbyterian School. All onlookers appreciated the display and enjoyed the musical accompaniment of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Band.

The Parade began subsequent to the conclusion of the Women’s Day Service. There were many students of St. Brigid’s Girls’ Roman Catholic Primary School accompanied by their teachers and guardians eagerly awaiting the commencement of the Parade.
