Our Feast Day at La Divina Pastora in Siparia

The Feast of La Divina Pastora was celebrated this past weekend in Siparia on Sunday 30th April, 2023. Holy Mass began at 10:00 a.m. and His Excellency Archbishop Santiago de Wit Guzmán, Apostolic Nuncio officiated. The parish priest Fr. Alan Hall was the concelebrant. In attendance were Deacon Paris who is currently at St. Frances of Assisi in Eren and several seminarians, both local and foreign who visit our parish from time to time.

Pilgrims arrived at the church by maxi loads from as early as 7:00 a.m. The Faithful and the faith Seeking, persons of all walks of life, every background and financial situation, old, young and in between, the sick and the strong, everyone who knew and were able in attendance. They came to do homage to La Divina Pastora, the Divine Shepherdess, Mary, the Most Holy Mother of God.

Young People from the Parish’s Confirmation class did the readings, Archbishop Santiago delivered an inspiring homily; children from the parish’s First Communion class did the prayers of intercession, members of the past and present confirmation classes combined to share assigned duties, the Men’s Group took up the collection and our glorious combined choir all came together in communion to make the day’s liturgy as memorable as it was.

After Holy Communion all took to the streets in procession through the town of Siparia. The streets were flanked by curious on-lookers many who held their various devices recording the proceedings. It is our hope that they would one day visit our blessed shrine themselves seeking the intercession of our blessed Mother, La Divina Pastora and be a part of our next Feast Day procession, not as an observer, but as a participant. May God richly bless us all.

La Divina Pastora, Pray for us.
