Our Lenten Mission began on Tuesday 14th March and ended on Friday 17th March.
The four days saw increasing numbers of parishioners and visitors from nearby parishes each night.
Fr. Elesear conducted the mission on the theme “Building Community – Blessings and Curses”.
Fr. Elesear took us from one high point to the other reaching the crescendo on Friday, with the celebration of Holy Mass.

He asked us to consider who we are and whose we are
- We are builders, co-creators with God.
- As builders, we are leaders.
- God provides the raw materials for us to build with Him.
Haggai 1:8 Go up into the hill; fetch timber and rebuild the house and I shall take pleasure in it and manifest my glory there…..
- We are called to be constructors of God’s love and manufacturers of God’s blessings.
- As La Divina Pastorians we are constructors of God’s mercy and compassion.
- The wilderness is not a place to die. It is there we are formed and filled so we can function.
- We must pass through the wilderness in order to get to Canaan.
- No pain, No gain. No sweat, No sweet. No Leant, No Easter. No wilderness, No Canaan.
- Sacrifice now is greater than regret later on.
- Jesus was the only on who was able to build a bridge between heaven and earth using only two pieces of wood – The Cross.
- Jesus is the Master Builder.
- The three main dimensions of the Cross were exposed. The Head Dimension: eyes, ears, mind, neck, mouth. The Hand Dimension: heart, back, ribs, hand. The Feet Dimension: knees, legs, feet.
- The Head Demension The Mind -We need to have the proper mind set. -We need to think from the mind of christ. -Think of ourselves as big builders. -Big builders build for expansion.
John 12:32 And when I am lifted up on earth, I shall draw all people to myself.
- We are building an inclusive community.
- When we think big, we give big and we build big.
- We will receive big, bold, bodacious blessings.
- A church, we cant just drink water and mind our own business, we must be concerned about other people.
- There is no way we can have a Cross-less Christ or a Christ-less Cross.
Ears
- From the ears of Jesus we have the best listener hanging from the cross.
Mouth
- It’s hard to build but very easy to destroy with the mouth.
- What comes from the mouth can both build and destroy.
- We need to build with pristine words.
- Words can break hearts and kill.
- The mouth can destroy blessing and curses.
- We were asked to consider what was our Lenten Orientation. -Am I more of the Mind, Eyes, Ears, Heart
